MS AWARENESS WEEK: Help Spread The Information!

Lisa Emrich's blog, Brass and Ivory has quietly been an on & off read for me. She writes with clear strength about living with disability, chronic illness, the state of healthcare and the realities of life for people like her & I. To that end - I ask everyone who wants to help to just use a little bandwith, and spread the blogging word about Multiple Sclerosis : MS Awareness, Blogging Friends, and a little Link Love There are at least 137 MS Bloggers out there actively discussing whatever suits their fancy. Below you will find many of these suspects....wait... I mean lovely blogger friends who happen to have multiple sclerosis. Remember how I mentioned a group project was in the works? Well here it is. As the founder of the Carnival of MS Bloggers, I'd like your help in spreading the word, and in doing so we will strengthen the bonds of our own little Multiple Sclerosis Blogging Web (and share some linkie love with each other). If you are not an MS Blogger, but are a ...

Tales from the Tombs of Israel Judith Fein It certainly seemed odd. People who were otherwise sane, intelligent, and credible would travel to the part of northern Israel known as the Galilee to pray at the tomb of the first-century rabbi Jonathan ben Uziel. Afterward, they would rapturously report that they had met their soul mates and gotten married. Since I was in the vicinity of the tomb, I decided to check out the departed matchmaker. Fortified with a healthy dose of skepticism, I entered the tsyun, a low, whitewashed building made of local rocks, cement, earth, and stones. Inside, the sepulcher was draped in dark velvet. On the women’s side — men and women are separated in Orthodox Judaism — some prayed earnestly from Hebrew prayer books and several deposited coins and bills into charity tins. Some left offerings, including bright-colored cloth, silk and chiffon scarves, plastic hair ornaments, and underpants. Underpants? I walked back outside more amused than inspired. When my hu...

A LITTLE LIBERAL READING Many thanks to THE RICHMOND DEMOCRAT for giving me a mention in the 44th Edition of the Carnival of the Liberals. I love this quote from Moral Courage on this carnival: In order to be morally courageous, you have to honor each of these three components. You have to have principles, and really value them, and be astute enough to apply them and prioritize them in the ambiguous real world. You have to recognize the risks, and look honestly at the consequences of action and inaction. And you have to draw on your character and your experience to give you the faith that allows you to take risks for your principles. Some good finds on this carnival. CLICK HERE TO GIVE IT A READ I love these blog carnivals because I always find fresh views, new blogs & resources. Just about as much as I love a decent aggregator! Even though Dr. Santy and I are at opposite ends of the political sphere I can certainly appreciate her wit, her writing and her points. IT'S BAAAACK! Welcome to the May 6, 2007 edition of Haveil Havalim. All week I had a lot of ideas about how I wanted to organize this carnival - but of course, I then realized that current events were going to dictate it, not me. Therefore I gathered some posts about the Aftermath of the Winograd Report together. I am sure future hosts will have a lot more to say about it as events continue to unfold in Israel. One thing I did want to take an opportunity to say here was to thank everyone at JBlogs , those I've met, those I'm getting to know and those getting to know me - for being so welcoming to me. Despite blogging for almost 4 years now I was very hesitant to join a blogging "community" for a long time. Over the summer I joined the Progressive Faith Bloggers and went to their BlogCon. It was very motivating and something I would love to see the JBlogosphere get together on. But still I dragged my feet, preferring to keep my little personal blog to mysel...
