The Wages of Whining

Image
by David Klinghoffer A point I try to impress on my children is one that the Jewish community would do well to consider. If you spend a day continually whining about trivia, by the end of the day, even if you've got something legitimate to complain about, mommy and daddy aren't going to be in a frame of mind to listen to you very seriously. This lesson can be difficult for a little kid to grasp. The Anti-Defamation League has a hard time with it, too, otherwise the group wouldn't profess to be "stunned" that the Vatican had "ignored our concerns" and reversed the excommunication of four previously outlawed rebel bishops, leaders of the reactionary Society of St. Pius X. The Pius X organization opposes the reforms of Vatican II, including its olive branch to the Jews and Judaism. One of the bishops is a flagrant anti-Semite, Holocaust denier and conspiracy theorist. Bishop Richard Williamson remains in hot water with the Catholic Church for having accepte...

How Obamabots Handle Dissent

Ah, the Obamabots welcoming the democracy process with open arms!! from THE RIGHT PERSPECTIVE While a GOP leader in Florida had his home shot at by political opponents, acts of vandalism, dirty tricks, and threats of violence are escalating in California. The state is doubly hit by the contentious US presidential race and the controversial Proposition 8, which would ban gay marriage statewide. Examples of this include the Ottos of Carmichael, CA were intimidated into removing their pro-McCain lawn signs. Another family promoting Proposition 8 with lawn signs were victimized by graffiti vandals who wrote “Bigots live here” on their car window. Many other reports have surfaced about the vandalizing of lawn signs promoting a political agenda. In California, stealing or damaging signs worth less than $400 is a misdemeanor and anything worth more than $400 is a felony. Victims are urged to file a complaint with the police. from THE JAWA REPORT: Obama Supporters to Pollsters: "Be Care...

PeaNUTZ' a Bigot

Gillerman's being polite. Carter being a bigot is a drop of the harm he's done to Israel. Israel's ambassador to the United Nations on Thursday called former President Jimmy Carter "a bigot" for meeting with the leader of the militant Hamas movement in Syria. Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, "went to the region with soiled hands and came back with bloody hands after shaking the hand of Khaled Mashaal, the leader of Hamas," Ambassador Dan Gillerman told a luncheon briefing for reporters. The diplomat was questioned about problems facing his country during a wide-ranging discussion with reporters lasting more than an hour. The briefing was sponsored by The Israel Project, a Washington-based, media-oriented advocacy group. The ambassador's harsh words for Carter came days after the ex-president met with Mashaal for seven hours in Damascus to negotiate a cease-fire with Gaza's Hamas rulers. Carter then called Mashaal on Monday to try to get him to...

SWEEPING UP THE FALWELL I have no love for religious extremists. I was raised staunchly Catholic and for a time in my teens, belonged to a local evangelical Christian group (there were no Jews where I grew up and whole lot of bad country music and shotguns). I wore my scapula even during college in the 70's, having been a pre-Vatican II kid. I have seen extreme Christianity, extreme Catholicism, extreme Fundamentalism and have no patience with it. Now - no patience with extremism in any faith. Maybe because I have always considered a relationship with the Almighty an extremely intimate and personal thing. Face it, God knows every single thing you do and think. God knows every skeleton in your closet by name and one day, you'll have to account for it all. You won't be able to bluff or finesse your way out of it. God is closer to you than your own skin. You are his creation. Your relationship to him is yours and God's alone. NO ONE has any right to tell you how t...
