Did Obama Just Say What I Think He Said?

Image
by Joseph Farah 'Living within our means' Did he really say that? I heard it with my own ears, but I had to see it with my own eyes before I believed it. I don't know how it played in Peoria, but when Barack Obama delivered a speech there more than a week ago, this is what he said: "We've gotta spend some money now to pull us out of this recession. But as soon as we're out of this recession we've gotta get serious about living within our means instead of leaving debt for our children and grandchildren and our great-grandchildren. That's not the responsible way. That's not how folks here in Peoria operate in their own lives, and they should expect the government is equally responsible." IF YOU'RE ON AN AGGREGATOR - CLICK HERE TO SEE THE ABOVE VIDEO Well, maybe I don't understand. A few questions come to mind: If spending money you don't have is a good thing in times of economic crisis, why is it a bad thing in good times? If Obama ac...

Obama's "Not To Do" List

Image
by Holman W. Jenkins, Jr. The global economic crisis is exposing the president's preoccupations as the soppy indulgences they always were. 'Put away childish things', President Obama said during his inauguration. He couldn't have found a theme more suited to the moment. The preoccupations that he and most politicians are used to running on, and that still characterize too many of his administration's utterances, are being exposed in the global economic disaster as the soppy indulgences they always were. Put away the global warming panic. Mankind's contribution to rising CO2 levels raises serious questions, but the tens of billions poured into climate science have, by now, added up only to a negative finding. We don't really have the slightest idea how an increase in the atmosphere's component of CO2 is impacting our climate, though the most plausible indication is that the impact is too small to untangle from natural variability. In any case, has Mr. Oba...

Obama Doesn't Even Understand Basic Economics

FROM INDIVID: Although Gov. Palin NEVER had creationism taught in Alaska's schools, she was unfairly tarred with that lie by the Media. Yet, We have Obama pushing, as a major part of his platform, the equivalent in terms of economics, and the Networks, CNN, and other major leftist media outlets are silent. Obamanomics, which is not economics at all, but merely flat-Earth-ian, Creationist-style, relegated to the dustbin-type, Marxism, includes the heavy handed, felonious Robin Hood-type "stealing from the entrepreneurial, and giving to the poor". As this story documents , a blue collar plumber asked if Obama's tax plan would increase taxes on his small, start-up plumbing company. Obama's response was YES! "It's not that I want to punish your success," Obama told him. "I want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success, too. Then, Obama explained his trickle-up theory of economics. "My atti...

It's Patriotic to Pay More Taxes

The Obamabots better get a muzzle for Biden before he shoves his foot any farther down his throat. Too easy to be "misquoted" when you are bloviating on & on, apparently aimlessly... Great way to win people over Joe! (feh!) Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden on Thursday called Republican John McCain's answers to the current economic crisis "the ultimate bridge to nowhere" and said paying higher taxes would be patriotic for wealthier Americans. Biden said the GOP presidential nominee was out of touch with average people's problems, comments designed to resonate with voters in economically troubled northeast Ohio and keep pressure on McCain during a week of bad news from U.S. markets and financial institutions. Biden's two-day bus trip in the region includes stops in areas devastated by thousands of job losses in manufacturing and the auto industry. With the economy a top concern in Ohio, polls were tight in this essential swing state. ...

Bush's Trojan Taco By Greg Palast Psst! George Bush has a secret. While you Democrats are pounding each other to a pulp in Pennsylvania, the President has snuck back down to New Orleans for a meeting of the NAFTA Three: the Prime Minister of Canada and the President of Mexico. You're not supposed to know that - for two reasons: First, the summit planned for the N.O. two years back was meant to showcase the rebuilt Big Easy, a monument to can-do Bush-o-nomics. Well, it is a monument to Bush's leadership: The city still looks like Dresden 1946, with over half the original residents living in toxic trailers or wandering lost and broke in America. The second reason Bush has kept this major summit a virtual secret is its real agenda. More important, the agenda-makers, the guys who called the meeting, must remain as far out of camera range as possible: The North American Competitiveness Council. Never heard of The Council? Well, maybe you've heard of the counselors: the chief...
