If we are to judge our president by whom he surrounds himself with, then what do Obama's selections of Warren and Summers tell us? I had a chance to participate in a mini-conference on victims of cybercrime recently. The over-riding complaint was the unwillingness and inability of police to take victims of cybercrime seriously. Particularly female victims; who are often portrayed as 'just women out for revenge.' Some of these women were subsequently physically attacked and only then did law enforcement take them seriously. Cybercrime is progressing faster than the law and the police know how to deal with it. So often rather than admit they 'don't know what to do' - police blow-off the victims. This is dangerous. I don't know what the solution is but if you're a victim of any crime, including cybercrime - go to the police and demand that they make a report. Ask to see the supervisor until you find someone willing to make a report and GIVE YOU A COPY OF THE REPORT. Projection , blame-shifting and minimizing , whitewashing or outright denying the abuse. These are three of what I consider to be the WORST OFFENSES an abusive personality or abusive group can do to someone. And a culture of denial literally rips the very soul and spirit of the person from them at its root. Here's some explanation (excerpts): Projecting blame. Abusers often engage in an insidious type of manipulation that involves blaming the victim for their behavior. Such perpetrators may accuse the victim of "pushing buttons" or "provoking" the abuse. By diverting attention to the victim's actions ("they went into it with eyes wide open" or "they are at fault too", the perpetrator avoids taking responsibility for the abusive behavior. by Katie Buckland As a former domestic violence prosecutor, I am gratified and relieved by the jury's decision in the Phil Spector murder case in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County. Spector, 69, a former music producer, was convicted Monday after his second trial of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Lana Clarkson almost six years ago. The jury system is at best an imprecise arbiter of justice. It is undoubtedly true, as one juror in the first trial in 2007, remarked, that Spector bought himself some forensic evidence by introducing bogus scientific evidence about the pattern of the blood splatter and position of the gun that tricked two jurors into thinking Clarkson had killed herself. According to comments after the first trial, one of the jurors found it relevant that the county coroner's office did not produce a "psychological autopsy" of Lana Clarkson. I loathe Bill O'Reilly. Close second is Chris Matthews. And I don't like are covert misogynists. You know the type - those guys who say " my wife is so wonderful " and " my mother is a saint " but they won't promote that hard working gal at the office...
