From THE NEW AGENDA by Amy Siskind An article posted yesterday in The Huffington Post proclaiming Obama Gets Gender Right in First 100 Days has many women seeing red. Here’s the author, C. Nicole Mason’s arguments: Obama lifted the global gag rule The first piece of legislation he signed into to law as President was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act Obama’s Cabinet is also chock full of extremely accomplished stateswomen and issue advocates. With two cabinet positions still open, Obama has appointed or nominated a total of eight women to his cabinet or to high-level positions. Less than a month shy of his 100 days, Obama created the White House Council for Women and Girls. I say this to Nicole - I’ll give you one of four. Yes, President Obama did appoint Valerie Jarrett to chair the newly created White House Council for Women and Girls. The New Agenda did speak out in The Daily Beast to cheer this action on. Of course, we’ve yet to hear a peep from this new Council. But, I ...

From: The New Agenda Musings on American Culture, and How To Change it For the Better by MadamaB This week, I have been thinking about American culture, and shaking my head in disgust. For example, I noticed that Oscar-winning actress Renee Zellweger is starring in a new movie. When I saw the publicity shots for the film, my jaw dropped, as it was obvious Ms. Zellweger, at the ripe old age of 39, has had a great deal of cosmetic surgery done on her face. As a result, she now bears a startling resemblance to Nicole Kidman and has all the expressiveness of a Madame Tussaud’s mannequin . But darn it, she doesn’t have wrinkles anymore, so I suppose it’s all for the best! And then there’s another Oscar-winning actress, Gabrielle Anwar, who currently stars in USA’s hit television show, “Burn Notice.” Ms. Anwar is certainly anorexic, yet is portrayed as a sexy, irresistible bombshell on the show. No normal woman could ever achieve a look like hers without literally starving herself to death. ...

IF YOU MAKE A WOMAN CRY

Image
"Be very careful if you make a woman cry, because God counts her tears. The woman came out of a man's rib. Not from his feet to be walked on. Not from his head to be superior, but from the side to be equal. Under the arm to be protected, and next to the heart to be loved." Hebrew Talmud PLEASE CLICK HERE TO JBLOG ME

Lynette Long wrote a wonderful article in the Baltimore Sun today . I am not at my best today, on top of the fact that this is a great article. Here's just one of the comments from a reader of the article: I can't adequately express the dismay, disgust and disillusionment I have felt in the Democrats' handling of Hillary throughout this election cycle. My husband and I are independents whose values and outlook have traditionally been more in sync with those of the Democrats, but we will both vote Republican this year. Just to illustrate the magnitude of that decision: I am a vegetarian, pro-choice, feminist immigrant - and I will not vote for Barack Obama, nor for his party of sycophantic hypocrites who so gleefully turned upon the very people who had promoted their ideals and fought their battles so successfully eight short years ago. My vote was cast the moment Mr. Obama told me - and eighteen millions others like me - to "get over it." I've charted my cour...

WOMEN DEMAND RUNNING OF THE COWS! Running of the cows? Women demand cow runs to balance Spain’s San Fermin bull festival MADRID - A group of women wants equality in Pamplona’s San Fermin bull running festival — they are demanding cow runs. “If the boys run ahead of the bulls, we (women) have to run with the cows. It’s pure logic,” said a tongue-in-cheek petition on a Spanish student Web site, www.estudiln.net . The Web site said the initiative had received dozens of messages of support in recent days. The anonymous group asked people to pass along the “Cows Want to Run” message to friends through their cell phones. “Cows, like bulls have four legs too, and a natural instinct to run,” the statement said. No one at the Web site or at Pamplona town hall was immediately available for comment Tuesday. The highlight of the San Fermin festival, which began June 29 and ends Saturday, are the 8 a.m. runs in which people test their mettle, stamina and daring by racing with six bulls along a 875-...

Muslim Women Don't See Themselves as Oppressed, Survey Finds IS THIS FOR REAL? Why am I not surprised that this was in that pooper-scooper THE NEW YORK TIMES. Or is this report smoking the Dhimmi Carter crack? Of course they don't feel oppressed - THEY LIVE IN A CLOSED SOCIETY and DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER. And then there's the "my husband and family will stone me to death if I speak my mind." Wow! I thought I'd read the most outrageous media spin before but this one really is the cherry on the sundae. Muslim women do not think they are conditioned to accept second-class status or view themselves as oppressed, according to a survey released Tuesday by The Gallup Organization. According to the poll, conducted in 2005, a strong majority of Muslim women believe they should have the right to vote without influence, work outside the home and serve in the highest levels of government. In more than 8,000 face-to-face interviews conducted in eight predominantly Musl...
