Character Assassination

Everyone's Deepest Fear by Kathy Krajco A narcissist I knew found herself taking a Basic Studies course, Speech 101, during her sixth year of college (when her mother finally forced her to graduate). She told me that the other students (freshmen and sophomores) were naive. That they took things for granted and — well, it sounded like she was saying they thought life a piece of cake. Kinda like the American Dream: if you do your best, do things right, and play by the rules, you will succeed and live happily ever after. Violence against women not only impacts the life of the woman, but can destroy her family and community. But there is hope. In honor of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women we would like to feature extraordinary Survivor Corps women who have risen above the trauma of violence and given back to others. Patricia is the Coordinator of the Burundian Women’s Lawyers Association, a Survivor Corps partner. Every day she meets with women who need her help, from litigation to putting food on the table. “In 1994, at the beginn...
