Olmert: "I am NOT a Crook"
by Herb Keinon The Prime Minister's Office confirmed Thursday night that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will be investigated for an hour Friday morning by the police. According to the PMO, Olmert received a request for the investigation Wednesday. "The Prime Minister intends to cooperate fully with the law enforcement officers as he has done in the past, and he is convinced that when the truth is revealed within the framework of the police investigation, the suspicions against him will be dispelled," a statement issued by the PMO read. The Prime Minister's Office did not specify which of the pending investigations against Olmert the surprise questioning was related to. According to a Channel 2 report Thursday night, the hastily-scheduled investigation by the Fraud Investigation Unit meeting was enabled after police received special authorization from Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz to summon Olmert within 48 hours.
