'But I'm Not a Swinging Chubby Plumper!"

Image
Just found another news article to illustrate something I always say!: BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU PUT ON THE INTERNET! EVEN STUFF YOU THINK IS ANONYMOUS OR POSTED PRIVATELY ON A CLOSED BOARD OR FORUM. A couple years ago someone accused me of PURPOSELY putting them on a porn aggregator; along with a lot of twisted statements & smears about me. I have to laugh because this post itself will probably end up on a porn aggregator. WHY? Because web spiders from a variety of aggregators are combing the net all the time for certain word or phrase combinations. Just the words "sex" or "porn" are going to get you put alongside some disgusting, salacious and truly depraved stuff. The person who made this accusation had made rude sexual references about me online. Including threats of physical harm against me. They did this themselves. And this is the net. When you do that? Sh*t happens. In the early 90s I worked for a ( not short enough ) time at a small office on the East ...

When Your Pain Has No Name

Origins of Chronic and Debilitating Pain Remain Unclear for Many Sufferers By DAN CHILDS Cynthia Toussaint was a ballerina. She was no stranger to the aches, pains and occasional injuries that came with the trade. So when the pain from an injury to a right hamstring wouldn't subside, Toussaint, then 21, did what she could to endure it. After all, she had auditions to attend -- in particular, a promising role in the musical Fame. When the burning, unrelenting pain was too much to bear, however, she sought a doctor's opinion. "I was told that I wouldn't dance for eight weeks and I thought, 'No, they're wrong,'" she recalls. But the pain would last for much longer than eight weeks. For months it persisted. A year and a half after the pain in her right leg started, she began to experience a similar pain in her left leg. Six and a half years after that, the pain had spread to both arms. The spread of her condition was not always so gradual. One morning, she...

Lawsuits Against the Almighty Continue

You just can't make this nonsense up! 'All-knowing' God would know of lawsuit BY PAUL HAMMEL A God who is "all-knowing" should know when he's being sued, even without being served notice of the lawsuit, said former State Sen. Ernie Chambers of Omaha. After all, Chambers wrote to the Nebraska Court of Appeals, courts already invoke the Almighty in oaths to witnesses that they tell the truth "so help me God." He said it was inconsistent for the Douglas County District Court "to take judicial notice of God in order to administer oaths and to enter an order to dismiss . . . yet simultaneously deny that the all-knowing God has notice of the petition," Chambers stated in written arguments submitted Monday. Chambers, an atheist who got a law degree at Creighton University, filed suit against God in 2007. The purpose, he said, was to uphold citizens' rights to sue "anyone else, even God." Chambers said he acted in response to legislat...

Blog Against Sexual Violence Day - 4/3/08

Today is Blog Against Sexual Violence Day and I found this gem. Get out your barf bags. At Halliburton/KBR, sexual assault is just part of the workplace experience for women by Lisa Takeuchi Cullen Like many viewers, I watched this ABC 20/20 report when it first aired in December with jaws-open, eyes-bugging horror. It told the story of two women workers for Halliburton/KBR who had been sent to Iraq. There, one, Jamie Lee Jones, a young computer tech, was gang-raped on her fourth day by coworkers after being drugged; the other, Tracy Barker, was sexually assaulted by a State Department employee. Both immediately reported their assaults, only to have KBR first lock them in isolation, then question their accusations. In the case of Jones, it even "lost" the medical report that documented evidence of gang rape. Here, then, is the update, posted this week on ABCNews.com. It ain't pretty. A mother of five who says she was sexually harassed and assaulted while working for ...
