If you have never been to Arlington National Cemetery... you've missed a profoundly moving experience. You can walk or take a tour through the graves and the history of America's true heroes. I've had the pleasure of being in Washington, D.C. enough times to have been there more than once. From the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WWI & WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War -- right through to Section 60 -- the Iraq War. The aura of lives and dreams unlived because people chose to die for America is palpable. And when you go... take your tissues. You'll need them. BE AN ANGEL TO A SOLDIER As I have said many times on this blog, whether or not you agree with the War - our men & women in the military deserve and need our support. To that end I am sharing a great site that has a variety of ways you can support our soldiers while they are serving our great country: Soldiers' Angels was started by a self-described ordinary mother of an ordinary young man turned hero, Sgt. Brandon Varn. Brandon was deployed in Iraq and has since honorably completed his mission and has returned back to his proud and loving family. In the summer of 2003, he wrote home expressing his concern that some soldiers did not receive any mail or support from home. Being a caring and loving mother, she decided not to allow a situation like that to continue. She contacted a few friends and extended family to ask if they would write to a soldier or two.
