They carried out their threat in July 2003. The effects on Sophia's health were devastating. She died on 25th November 2005. She was only 32. I believe it is now time that not only the public in general, but doctors, psychiatrists, the legal profession and M.P.s should read Sophia's documents. They need to see them so that they can understand how the doctors, psychiatrists, social workers and others in high places coldly ignored the truly terrible physical suffering she endured; how her right to make a valid choice was brushed aside and her human rights totally abused. It is clear to me that grave injustices were done to her, not only in her life, but in what I see as a 'cover up' in her death. by Jonny Paul The number of anti-Semitic hate crimes against the Jewish community in Britain reached an unprecedented high in the first half of 2009, according to figures released on Thursday by a Jewish community organization. The Community Security Trust (CST), a charity which monitors anti-Semitism and provides security for the Jewish community in Britain, recorded 609 anti-Semitic incidents across the UK from January to June this year, over double the 276 incidents recorded for the same period last year. The charity said that this is the worst year since 1984, when records began, and that the number of incidents in the first half of this year is higher than the 598 incidents recorded in all of 2006, during the Second Lebanon War, and the 544 in all of 2008. A sleepwalking Britain by Jonathan Joseph The threatened boycott of Israeli academics led by the newly formed Universities and Colleges Union is a disgrace, and has evoked shock and disbelief around the world. Last week, the editor of this paper wrote lamenting the fact that Britain appears to be sleepwalking its way to an entrenched anti-Israeli stance. Understandably, Jewish communities in Israel and America are beginning to assume that British Jews are under siege, and to worry whether we need rescuing. Fortunately, they need not be so anxious. The perception of England produced by the boycotters is as distorted as the image of Israel that they are trying to promulgate. The recent failed car bomb attacks on a London nightclub and Glasgow airport demonstrated once again that Britain is a principal target for al-Qaeda. But even now, the British response is dangerously confused. After eight people in the medical profession were arrested over these attacks, there was widespread shock that those who cure should also want to kill. THE UNITED KINGDOM... OF ARABIA I was in the U.K. recently. One of my dearest friends lives there and I love it there. I've been to Edinburgh and Inverness in Scotland. I've been to Stratford, Bath, Portsmouth, The Isle of Wight and of course, London. My experiences in London, in particular, have always been good ones. Every time I go have a strange sense of deja vu. I know where I am going without a map and without being told. I know the shortcuts and the scenery is too familiar. It is as if I have lived there my whole life. London is one of the three places I have visited that I have had this experience with. Therefore, I consider it a part of me.
