Every day that I read or watch the news - more of the devastating effects of Destructive Narcissists and their decisions & behavior are all around us. Lisa & I mention this to each other frequently. Sometimes I wonder, are we the only ones who see this? I have always believed that Britney Spears was the victim of a Destructive Narcissist (Kevin Federline). Federline is all about himself, comes off as the better parent, does all he can to keep his all-important 'image' pallatable - but I watched Britney's acting out after their split with horror and compassion. Shaving off her hair, drinking, possibly drugging, hobnobbing with paparazzi... Britney didn't know if she was coming or going it seemed. Her race from one personal train-wreck to another appeared to be a desperate attempt to run away from pain. SMELLS LIKE ISLAMOFASCIST TWEEN SPIRIT Today was a big "birthdayS" day. My kids became tweens. Something they have both been salivating over for a year now. They have had their first crushes ( one of them still does ) and now they are dealing with bullies, changing bodies and conflicting feelings. There's still some legal wrangling their father is doing with me so that is hard too. We are all doing our best to cope and I am pouring on the unconditional love, understanding and healthy boundaries. I am so deeply proud of them. They are so individual, sweet, empathic and smart. Both of them have a best friend that they talk with. Both have asked for cellphones (the answer is still NO this year). Despite her ADD, one of my children is really working hard at school this year. WHITEWASHING RADICAL ISLAM by Timothy R. Furnish As of this writing I am watching C-SPAN2's "Book TV." Lawrence Wright is interviewing Raymond Ibrahim, who works in the Middle East section at the Library of Congress and just published The al-Qaeda Reader, containing translations of Usama bin Ladin's and Ayman al-Zawahiri's writings. Wright is trying, at every turn, to refute Ibrahim's analysis. For example, Ibrahim was just discussing the fact that UBL and his ilk justify their violence from the Qur'an and the Hadiths. Wright interjected "but of course every religion has violent tendencies: in Christianity you're supposed to stone homosexuals." Amazing. I've read the New Testament numerous times, and I've yet to find that passage. Wright is a noted and best-selling author and alleged "expert" on the war on terror and the Middle East--and a guest host on C-SPAN--yet he is incredibly ignorant (or simply misrepresentative) of...
