Ex-JetBlue Employee is Overnight Net-Sensation

Image
Steven Slater - YOU ARE MY HERO!! For reminding us all, no job is worth being ABUSED for.  Enough is enough!! By CLEMENTE LISI Move over Chesley Sullenberger, make room for Steven Slater. The JetBlue flight attendant who went berserk has become an overnight Internet hero to workers everywhere after arguing with a passenger, then escaping down the plane's inflatable emergency chute at JFK Airport clutching a beer. A day after the attendant-turned-wing-nut had a meltdown on a flight from Pittsburgh, eight Facebook fan pages have been created overnight in Slater's name and on Twitter, users just can't stop talking about him. What has made the 39-year-old Slater so heroic to many is that he quit his job after grabbing a brew from the beverage cart and, in a move fit for an action movie, deployed the plane's emergency chutes, where he slid away to his parked car and drove off -- a take-this-job-and-shove-it move that many have only dreamed of doing. When the "Crime" Doesn't Fit the Punishment

Disproportional Responses Another great post by my friend, Anna. One I can relate to personally. I had a parent who treated me like this. And we've all dealt with people who used or abused us. The moment we stand up to them, though - watch out!! Heaven forbid WE get angry or hurt! But try to keep in mind the terrorists in our world today and their DISPROPORTIONATE responses while reading this great blog post: by Anna Valerious One of the oft used tools in the narcissist's manipulation toolbox is disproportional response. This technique is highly effective on adults; it is devastatingly effective on children. Any abusive tactic is targeted at one goal: control. The narcissist is consumed with controlling his version of reality which means he must control you in order to maintain a sense of the world as he has defined it. The narcissist attempts to maintain "order" and internal cohesion in himself by shaking up your world. By confusing you, he gets to feel sane. By fr...

Terrorism = Tantrums

Hat tip GIYUS Ever observed a child having a tantrum? I have. One of my children is learning disabled and has tantrums that resemble cyclones. Now, how many of you have seen adults have them? I have - I've seen bosses, people on line at a store and people on mass transit have them. They don't want to "share" or admit to anything. They want it their way. Now. Of course, we've seen a lot of it online . People who just aren't getting their way. Bloggers who don't like reality or don't deal well with disagreement. And most of all trolls who decide that rather than dealing with things in an adult fashion - like civil debate - they will malign, smear, lie and cheat to gain sympathy and to gain the upper hand. They may even write blog posts about you or covert posts about you to tear you down. Its their site, and they figure - they will wield it like a bat if need be. Terrorism is a form of a tantrum. Albeit a deadly one. They don't get what t...

Wolfowitz Barricades Self In World Bank Office by Tom Burka In a last ditch effort to hold onto his presidency at the World Bank, Paul Wolfowitz has barricaded himself in his World Bank office, saying that he will go only "when they pry the international checkbook from my cold dead hands." Wolfowitz had initially considered barricading his girlfriend, Shaha Riza, in his office with him, but because World Bank rules prohibit that, Wolfowitz arranged for Shaha to be barricaded in the office of Lynn Cheney at the Department of State. Wolfowitz released a statement saying that he had "squatter's rights" and further contended that he had done nothing wrong. He also threatened to hold the economy of Ghana hostage if anyone tried to dislodge him. "One more step and Ghana gets it," he warned. Soon thereafter, Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez barricaded himself in his office at the Department of Justice along with two filing cabinets filled with emails that ...
