Petition to Reverse the Ongoing Raid on the Social Security Fund

Image
cross-posted from stellar fellow female blogger: UPPITY WOMAN! --------------- Petition here. Also please refer to my previous post entitled “I can’t find the missing 2.2 Trillion!“ Next time you hear the Republicans and/or Democrats, your cold, fear-mongering President and their hitman Alan Simpson throw around the bullcrap, remember this petition. It affects you, because even if you are not a senior, that 2.2 Trillion Congressional thieves have skimmed into the General Fund all these years is your money too. These people are thieves and they don’t know how to wiggle out of their thievery, so they have decided to punish their victims instead. Petition text: SOURCE To the United States Congress Whereas, Congress for more than a quarter century has been engaged in a shameful Raid on Social Security surpluses and leaving behind IOUs written to itself; and Whereas, Social Security no longer is running regular annual surpluses; and Whereas, Congress must take im...

Giving Up on Obama

I've had my ups and downs with Paul Krugman over at the NYTimes. But when he gets it right - he REALLY gets it right! He Wasn’t The One We’ve Been Waiting For by Paul Krugman Health care reform — which is crucial for millions of Americans — hangs in the balance. Progressives are desperately in need of leadership; more specifically, House Democrats need to be told to pass the Senate bill, which isn’t what they wanted but is vastly better than nothing. And what we get from the great progressive hope, the man who was offering hope and change, is this: I would advise that we try to move quickly to coalesce around those elements of the package that people agree on. We know that we need insurance reform, that the health insurance companies are taking advantage of people. We know that we have to have some form of cost containment because if we don’t, then our budgets are going to blow up and we know that small businesses are going to need help so that they can provide health insuranc...

A Vote for Women's Human Rights in Massachusetts

Image
AMEN! By: Not in This Lifetime The commonwealth of Massachusetts, Republicans, Independents and Democrats stood tall and voted for their chosen candidate, U.S. Senator Scott Brown. The good people of Massachusetts who are law abiding, hard working, who love their country and only wants what is in the best interest of this nation, made their choice as to who would best serve the people of Massachusetts and I commend and applaud their decision. This is a most historic and monumental election that has changed the landscape of the “stronghold” of the Democratic Party. There is not a doubt in my mind that this vote, had to be one of the most difficult decisions in decades for the voters of Massachusetts, to break with tradition and choose a Republican over a Democrat for the U.S. Senate seat that has long been held by a democrat. The corrupt “Audacity of Hope &; Change” should take full responsibility for the downfall of the unrecognizable Democratic Party, the “used to be, party of the...

The Fix Is In for N.Y. Senate Seat

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAROLINE THE 'CERTAIN' PICK FOR DAVE: RIVALS By FREDRIC U. DICKER DESPITE claims that he's still undecided, Gov. Paterson is "certain" to pick Caroline Kennedy to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton in the US Senate, several unhappy contenders for the job have told friends and associates in recent days. The contenders based their conclusion on the view that Paterson, after nearly two months of indecision, would "greatly embarrass" and "entirely humiliate" Kennedy, anger her prominent political family and even offend President-elect Barack Obama by picking someone other than President John F. Kennedy's daughter. As for the governor's claim to be weighing a last-minute finalist, the contenders agree with a close Paterson friend who said, "It's clear David is just trying to play mind games with the press." Some of the contenders warned, however, that the unelected Paterson, who must face the voters next year, cou...

Serial Adulterer Beats Pedophile in Election - More Hypocrisy

Image
From CHEAT SEEKING MISSILES We all remember Mark Foley, the Republican with a fondness for male pages, and the damage he caused the GOP in the last election. So ask yourself this question: How up are you on Tim Mahoney? Hint: Google Blog Search only turns up a paltry 445 hits for “Rep. Tim Mahoney affair.” Affair, you say? Well, yes. The Dem who defeated Foley by running on a holier than thou ticket is a serial adulterer. ABC broke the story, and Fox is building on it. This is from Fox: According to ABC News, Mahoney, who is married, started an affair with Patricia Allen while campaigning against Foley on a morality platform. Allen came on to his staff after he won the election in 2006, but when complaints about the alleged affair surfaced, Mahoney moved Allen to the campaign staff, aides told the broadcast network. ABC reported Allen tried to break off the affair after learning Mahoney was supposedly cheating on her and his wife with other women. In response, he threatened her job...

How Blind Can They Be?

Image
It boggles the mind. From 2000-2004 Karl Rove, Darth Cheney, the Bush Crime Family and their merry bands of Flying Monkeys manipulated, fixed and outright stole two elections. Even after all of America watched Dubya go down in flames in the Presidential Debates -- the voting turned sharply and mysteriously in his favor. Now here we are, 2008. Dubya's finally out the door and the Dems, who have been rending their clothes and tearing out their hair, trying to get some parity and fairness in Election Rules and Proceedings... who have been trying to get various Election Boards into court to own up for what that did in the 2000 & 2004 elections... have done the worst thing possible. Not only did they gang-rape the only Democrat I saw who truly was ready, willing and very capable of handling the Presidency; they are stooping lower than the Republicans ever did in the two prior elections. Elie Wiesel tells a wonderfully haunting story of how he almost became what he hated. He spent ...

Sarah Palin is Good News for Feminism!

Image
by Ann Althouse Cathy Young has a nice op-ed in the WSJ , "Why feminists hate Sarah Palin." Excerpt: Left-wing feminists have a hard time dealing with strong, successful conservative women in politics such as Margaret Thatcher. Sarah Palin seems to have truly unhinged more than a few, eliciting a stream of vicious, often misogynist invective.... I disagree with Sarah Palin on a number of issues, including abortion rights. But when the feminist establishment treats not only pro-life feminism but small-government, individualist feminism as heresy, it writes off multitudes of women. I wouldn't have titled this piece "Why feminists hate Sarah Palin." Young never concedes that the feminism that liberals say is the only feminism is, in fact, the only feminism. Nor would I. There was a time -- I was there -- back in the 80s and early 90s, when feminists would speak of "feminisms" and were always promoting some new version of feminism that, we'd ar...

Platforms on Israel: Democrats vs. Republicans

Image
On first reading, the language of both the Republican and Democratic and Party platform planks on Israel may seem curiously similar. But there are significant differences in tone and, to an extent, in substance over such issues as the fate of Jerusalem, future borders, and Iran policy, modalities that may become important as the major parties wrangle over the Jewish vote in battleground states. Herewith, a comparison of the two platforms on Israel-related issues, highlighting the differences between them. Jerusalem REPUBLICAN: We support Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel and moving the American embassy to that undivided capital of Israel. DEMOCRATIC: Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel. The parties have agreed that Jerusalem is a matter for final status negotiations. It should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths. Israel's future borders DEMOCRATIC: All understand that it is unrealistic to expect the outcome of final status negotiati...

Election 2008 - Where I Stand Now

Image
The Obama Thugs got their boy in. He's the nominee. Hillary's lukewarm endorsement was still one of the best speeches she's ever given. In terms of her, I want her to look to 2012, when people will REALLY need her to step in and clean up any further messes made. Here's where I stand - NOBAMA. There is no way in hell I am voting for or backing Barack Obama. The guy gives me the creeps. Yes, I have seen the Temple of Obama being built for the dear boy at the DNC. After Bubba's speech tonight, I am not watching anymore. I am not a Democrat. And I don't have to watch one more second of that pathological con-man and his duped, memerized worshippers or that wife of his, who also gives me the creeps. My hats off to my fellow PUMA s. Despite being maligned and called names (like 'immature' and 'rude' and being told to 'get over it') you stuck to your convictions. And you continue to stick to your convictions. Let's all work toget...

Why I Turned P.U.M.A.

Image
From NO QUARTER : by LisaB. I’ve given a lot of thought to why I turned PUMA. On paper, I should be a loyal Democrat excited about this year’s “break-through” candidate. But I’m not. I will not vote for Obama under any circumstances I can think of (well, OK, if Cheney became the Republican nominee, I’d go for Obama). Given my history of voting for AA and Democratic candidates, this really doesn’t make sense, does it? Hillary was never the perfect candidate. Luckily, I didn’t expect her to be. I expected she would sometimes disappoint me and take a position I disagreed with. Such is life, quite frankly. I was initially intrigued by Obama - a fresh face and a promise of change. But as the season wore on, I settled on Hillary. Why? Hillary has a history of giving a damn. That’s rare enough in today’s Washington. More rare is someone who gives a damn and has been giving a damn for years. Any read of Hillary’s resume shows deep experience and any talk with her will show you this lady knows ...

Could the DNC Be Another Kent State?

Image
by Samantha A. Torrence The Democratic National Convention has come under threats from liberal protestors, and in response the government has been utilized to keep intelligence on perceived threats. May 4, 1970 was a day of mourning for Kent, Ohio at Kent State University. Four students had been shot dead during an anti-war protest. The events of that day and the week leading up to it have been lost in the spin against the establishment. However if Americans are to truly learn from the mistakes of that event, they will have to be faced with some uncomfortable truths, and how easily the events can be performed again. As Nixon announced a new front on the Vietnam war, Cambodia, protests sparked across the country. Students across America were against the actions despite the fact that Cambodia was harboring and giving aid to the Vietcong. The first protest at Kent over the rekindling of the Vietnam war was held on May 1st 1970. After an emotional protest where the Constitution was buried ...

Obama, The Dems' "Post Turtle" Channels Hillary

Image
Let me open with a joke I saw on one of my PUMA boards today, about Obama as a POST TURTLE. What is a POST TURTLE you ask? Read on: While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our President. The old rancher said, ‘Well, ya know, Obama is a post turtle.’ Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle’ was. The old rancher said, ‘When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a post turtle.’ The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain. ‘You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dummies put him up there to begin with.’ Yesterday I started cross posting with PUMA . ...

Could Obama still lose the nomination?

Image
Gosh I HOPE SO!! By Denis Keohane Will Hillary outsmart Obama and take the nomination at the last minute? Many of us familiar with Hillary Clinton's approach to achieving her goals refused to believe that she ever gave up all hope of winning the nomination and the presidency. Her words and actions on the subject of the convention itself always left the door open for a return, should Obama falter or suffer some calamity. Her artful evasions were enough to lull journalists and (more importantly) Obama and his supporters into the presumption of inevitability. No further rumblings of a mass protest in Denver should the first black candidate be denied his rightful due were heard. After all, he received enough publicly expressed support from super delegates to put him over the top. And he won the popular vote in the primaries, we were assured, lending legitimacy to the super delegates who voiced their support. Everyone presumed the presumptive nominee was a lock. Now there are a few sign...
