You’re right. Women Need to be “Safe”. From Guys Like You.

Image
More from my blogging sister, Uppity Woman: I am truly insulted and incensed. Somebody please tell me that this guy is just a bad satirist. I simply cannot believe that a classy site like American Thinker would let this clinical case with a “Woman Problem” post this ignorant caveman crap. This piece is spreading like wildfire across the net among totally pissed-off women who supported John McCain. We simply cannot believe what we are reading. This must be some kind of “Conservative” program to stop more women from voting Republican forever. The biggest problem we remaining conservatives have to consider is the Woman Problem. We have to confront the fact that one of the reasons that we live in an age of Big Government is that ever since they first got the vote, women have used their franchise to vote for more government. Can we even hope for change? Atta way! Blame women for your shortcomings. Damn bitches! We should have never let them vote! Now they go to college and things an

Yesterday I Cheated This Much!

from my friend, the always great Uppity Woman: Taxes for thee, not me. While more people in the world reach starvation levels due to a shortage of corn and the tripling of the cost of other grains, Corn King Tom Daschle has been ironically tapped to be the Secretary of “Health and Human Services”. If that isn’t ironic unto itself, he is another thief who scurried to pay back taxes after a nomination tap. This is the same thief who, when he was in office, called corporations Benedict Arnold for not paying taxes. The Senate Finance committee will meet Monday to review the tax records of former Sen. Tom Daschle, President Obama’s nominee for secretary of health and human services. Oh make me laugh will you? We all know the worth of your Kabuki “reviews”. You guys would confirm Dracula if Obama decided he wanted to put him in charge of the blood bank. Why don’t you thieves just cut the crap and do a blanket approval of everybody so we don’t have to listen to your lying BS on TV for

Bullying, Intimidation, Extortion Attempts

Advocating for Survivors of Sexual Violence Vicki Polin , MA, ATR, LCPC (Much of this also applies to Jewish survivors of domestic violence, emotional, verbal and mental abuse, financial abuse, terrorism and exploitation. Well worth a read! And kudos to the Awareness Center for their great & much needed work!) excerpts: ...the time has come to bring certain aspects of our work (at the Awareness Center ) out in the open. I want to make a point to mention that what ever it is that those who volunteer for The Awareness Center endure, is minor in comparison to what the survivors who contact our organization are forced to deal with on a daily basis. It is also vitally important to mention that the process of bullying, intimidating and extortion of both survivors and victim advocates is not limited to those in Jewish communities. These sorts of behaviors are conducted by individuals of all faiths -- within their own communities. As many of you know, The Awareness Center has extreme

Apologies to my Readers

I just returned from 5 days in the hospital in excruciating pain. I will be having some serious surgery in the next couple months and ask that you all pray for me. Posting will continue when I am up it. Thanks, Barbara Hear my prayer, O Lord, heed my plea for mercy. In time of trouble I call You, for You will answer me. When pain and illness are my companions, let there be room in my heart for strength. When the days and nights are filled with darkness, let the light of courage find its place. Help me endure the suffering and dissolve the fear; renew within me the calm spirit of trust and peace. Boruch Atah Adonai, Ro-fei HaCholim We praise you, O God, Healer of the Sick Amen

"I am the real victim here!" cries Blagojevich

Image
OMG! I am speechless. This is so blatantly pathological... the audacity! Soooooo... who's lying here? One guess! Blagojevich: I'm the victim of plot to raise taxes Launching an all-out media blitz as his impeachment trial draws near, Gov. Rod Blagojevich compared himself Friday to an honest, hardworking cowboy about to be lynched by a band of black-hatted political insiders eager to raise taxes. fter keeping mostly out of the public eye since his arrest on federal corruption charges, Blagojevich is reversing course with a series of interviews and public statements portraying himself as the victim of vengeful lawmakers eager to toss him out of office. Narcissists are the most horrific liars and they are outstanding at it. They can come up with the most elaborate stories at the drop of a hat and they are extremely convincing. They can also take the smallest scrap of information or the most insignificant incident and masterfully weave it into a major event. The wierdest thing is

Senate Passes Ledbetter Bill!

Image
The bill passed by 61-36. We need to get a roll call to see which of our nation’s 36 senators voted against fair pay for women and to find out what their rationale was. They have a lot of explaining to do to their non-burqa wearing female constituents. Some of you ladies out there should expect to see a raise as your employers rush to head off any potential lawsuits. But there’s more to paycheck disparities than just discrimination: The Senate debate on Thursday reflected society’s debate. Civil and womens’ rights advocates hailed the new Ledbetter legislation, but others said it will leave companies vulnerable to potentially crippling lawsuits even though discrimination is only a small factor in the so-called “gender gap” between male and female earners. A 2007 report by the American Association of University Women found that when experience, training, education and other factors are weighed, discrimination accounts for only 5 percent of the earnings differential between male and fe

McCain - Still a Class Act

Image
from 'Madam Secretary': John McCain dug deep and found his clichéd maverick side on the Senate floor today, taking the microphone (so to speak) to call for Hillary Clinton to be confirmed this afternoon by unanimous consent rather than by a time-consuming roll call vote. He had, reportedly, spoken to Texas Sen. John Cornyn ( the architect of today's vote, which is designed to embarrass Hillary -- and, by extension -- Bill Clinton ). This isn't the first time that John McCain has praised Hillary. During the primaries last year, they were rarely seen trading barbs , and he famously said of her: Sen. Clinton has earned great respect for her tenacity and courage. The media often overlooked how compassionately she spoke to the concerns and dreams of millions of Americans, and she deserves a lot more appreciation than she sometimes received. "As the father of three daughters, I owe her a debt for inspiring millions of women to believe there is no opportunity in this gre

Acceptance

This was, and is - one of the hardest things for me. Accepting my diagnosis. That this is it for me. Forever. I realize I have only vague memories of the person I was 12 years ago. Before the daily, intractable pain moved into my life. Before the daily low grade fevers came along. Before the only people I saw regularly were my doctors & their nurses. Before I was on a first name basis with staff at three area hospitals. Before I learned to self-inject with anti-virals. Before I found walking to be sometimes excruciating. Before I spent 98% of my time at home, usually in bed. Before my body said no. Before my mind became vulnerable due to depression caused by pain. Before I became useless. I still want to do things that matter, that help others, that put me back on the right path, that empower my children & those around me, that honor Hashem. Hopefully, I am. ACCEPTANCE OF MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS Denial serves a wonderful psychological purpose. Thus the “NO!! ” when someone gets t

Deception = Awareness of The Truth

My friend Anna had a disordered parent like I did. Often when we discuss it, it's almost like we had the same parent. There is an understanding between us and other ACONS (Adult Children of Narcissists) that is only possible between people who have been through a war - and know the terror, rage and empty feeling that comes from knowing you meant nothing to that parent other than a prop to be used and abused. The very person who is supposed to UNCONDITIONALLY love & nuture you twists you into an abuse-ignoring, bad-treatment accepting blind person who has to take back their lives, inch by excruciating inch. And then -- somehow come to terms with what love really is and with what was missing in their lives that can never, ever be replaced or reparented. Anna's blog is a must-read for me and anyone who's been through this sort of growing up. Reminder - that anyone who has/ had and abusive partner, friend, coworker, boss, parent or watched politicians for a few years wi

Because I'm Fat...

Image
Yeah, I'm fat. Obese almost. And I don't like it. But the comments I get (some posted online) don't bother me as much the those expressing them hope I would. What bothers me is the willful stupidity & inability to engage their brains of these commentors. Before I moved to the house I'm in now, I lived in a luxury condo building. One of my neighbors, when I first lived there - was named Robert. He was younger than I and lived with his older mother. He was not well but often looked fine. I asked him once why he didn't date... his response, "I won't be around long enough to be a good partner for someone." He was right. Every few years Robert, who was tall and thin, would hobble around looking like he weighed over 300lbs. The condo gossips would talk about how "fat" he was and how he was "yo-yo dieting." I got tired of telling people it was his illnesses. You see Robert had numerous surgeries, medication as well as havin

Obama's Price of Failure

When I was getting married I remembered telling one of my friends that I could just about tell which marriages had an " Under-5 Shelf Life ", as I called it. That means, the brides and their helicoptering mothers who were more concerned about the perfect dress, the lavish reception, etc. Instead of worrying what would make a good marriage - things like communication, compromise, understanding and committment. (BTW, my wedding and reception was very small, tasteful and I nabbed a designer gown for under $500 that needed no alterations! My Nana, of blessed memory, was a gown designer and I swear she was helping me from the Other Side!) Granted, my marriage ended but not without many years of effort on my part. My ex still asks me to come back to this day but refuses to do anything about the problems which ripped us apart. He refuses to take any responsibility or even recognize his behavior towards me was wrong. He refuses to see or admit that slowly, over time - not only

The Fix Is In for N.Y. Senate Seat

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAROLINE THE 'CERTAIN' PICK FOR DAVE: RIVALS By FREDRIC U. DICKER DESPITE claims that he's still undecided, Gov. Paterson is "certain" to pick Caroline Kennedy to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton in the US Senate, several unhappy contenders for the job have told friends and associates in recent days. The contenders based their conclusion on the view that Paterson, after nearly two months of indecision, would "greatly embarrass" and "entirely humiliate" Kennedy, anger her prominent political family and even offend President-elect Barack Obama by picking someone other than President John F. Kennedy's daughter. As for the governor's claim to be weighing a last-minute finalist, the contenders agree with a close Paterson friend who said, "It's clear David is just trying to play mind games with the press." Some of the contenders warned, however, that the unelected Paterson, who must face the voters next year, cou

Israel Told to 'End It By 1/20/09' - by TeamObama!

By Procrustes: Aaron Klein, Jerusalem bureau chief for World Net Daily, writes from Herzliya, Israel, that according to a top defense official speaking to WND, representatives from the incoming administration of President-elect Barack Obama informed Israel they would like to see the Jewish state’s offensive against Hamas scaled back before tomorrow’s inauguration. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media, said he was not aware of any official demand from Obama or his team, but that members of Obama’s team made it clear to the Israeli government it would be better for them if Israel’s three-week offensive come to an end as Obama assumes office. A representative from Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s office, who would not speak on the record on the matter, denied there was any contact between Olmert’s office and Obama regarding the Hamas offensive. “There is one president. His name is George Bush. We only deal with him. There was no c
