Domestic Terrorism by Any Standard

Image
In light of the D.C. Holocaust Museum shooting, it seemed appropriate to re-post this one: By Joe Conason If right-wing broadcasters don't want to be blamed when someone murders a person they have demonized repeatedly -- as in the case of George Tiller, the doctor shot dead in his Wichita, Kan., church last Sunday by an anti-abortion zealot -- then they ought to moderate their rhetoric. No doubt they will choose their words more carefully for a while, and they will whine piteously about anyone who calls attention to their screaming extremism. This familiar cycle of shaming and blaming, which often follows incidents like the Tiller killing, may well be pointless. By now, it should be obvious that nothing, not even a murder in a church, will mute the most aggressive and irrational voices in politics and the media, as they attract high ratings and consistent donations. Yet there is one response to this crime that might make a difference in the future. Although an overwhelming majority...

Obama Stalks Our Collective Souls

Image
from: STALKING THE SOUL Perverse abusiveness fascinates, seduces, and terrifies. We sometimes envy abusive individuals because we imagine them to be endowed with a superior strength that will always make them winners. They do, in fact, know how to naturally manipulate, and this appears to give them the upper hand, whether in business or in politics. Fear makes us instinctively gravitate toward them rather than away from them: survival of the fittest. The most admired individuals are those who enjoy themselves the most and suffer the least. In any case, we don't take their victims, who seem weak and dense, seriously, and under the guise of respecting another's freedom, we become blind to destructive situations. In fact, this "tolerance" prevents us from interfering in the actions and opinions of others, even when these actions and opinions are out of line or morally reprehensible. We also weirdly indulge the lies and "spin" of those in power. The end justifie...

The "O-Man"

Image
by Dr. Jack Wheeler The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit. No resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of how the world works, no balls, nothing but abstract empty rhetoric devoid of real substance. He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya. Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is exclusively. What he isn't, not a genetic drop of, is 'African-American,' the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships. He hasn't a single ancestor who was a slave. Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab business in East Africa for centuries...

Obama's Childhood Lies.... er... Memories

Image
O.K. -- I am not a "single mom" though I often have to act like one. My kids have a father and he is very good about taking care of our living expenses. We are no longer together and have not been for 9 years now. I NEVER, no matter how I may personally feel, have tried to separate my children from their father. I always invite him to parent teacher meetings, open school nights, doctor/ dentist or orthodontist visits. I always let him know what my children need and encourage him to be in on the decisions. However, I take care of my children like a single mother. My children are my full time job and life time responsibility. I am medically disabled and unable to work but I can be a mother, albeit not the kind of mother I'd like to be. But they are my job. My children would never, ever say they don't have a father. Or even imply it. I wouldn't allow that. I wonder how Barky's mother and step-father(s) feel about his words?? I'd be furious. The ...

Obama Goes Over The Top

Image
By ALEXANDER COCKBURN Only two people have ever defeated a Clinton in electoral combat. The first was a Republican, Frank White who evicted Bill for a couple of years from the Arkansas governor’s mansion in 1980 and – a man of principle – used this window to try to install creationism as a palatable option in high schools. The second is Barack Obama who went over the top in the delegate count last Tuesday night, prompting Hillary Clinton to slouch sulkily to the brink of a formal concession, while she continued to maneuver for everything from an offer of the nomination for vice president, to a big role at the convention in Denver to help in paying off her campaign debts. To have persuaded enough Democrats that a black man can be their champion in November and have a passable chance of winning the Oval Office is a tremendous achievement, even if Obama’s campaign has flagged badly in recent weeks. But by then Obama was cantering through the final straight. The battle was won in the firs...

An American Honor "Killing"

Image
I'm sitting with one of the abused women I've been asked to speak with. I focus on abuse that's non physical, mainly because it's so culturally pervasive yet hard to get at. We start talking: "He's says I'm a bitch & a nag. Since I left after catching him cheating he says I am a "woman scorned" and that "hell hath no fury." "If I had a dime for every time I heard that." I tell her "Men say it far too often rather than taking responsibility for their own behavior. It's blame-shifting. Problem is, far too many people find it easy to believe." She nods her head. "But remember," I say, "people don't like to see the tough answers. And your friends might be a little scared of him too. He sounds like a schoolyard bully calling you a poopyhead." Her face lights up with relief and I steer the conversation to the more practical aspects of her situation. I was able to make her se...

Obama: Watch His ACTIONS, Not His WORDS

Image
The videos below are a MUST WATCH!! Either come to my blog (if you're reading this on an aggregator) to view them or go to ObamaTruth.org If you can't see the embedded videos go to OBAMA TRUTH for more! Obama's fundraising collides with his rhetoric By Bob Secter Maytag workers whose jobs were shipped to Mexico serve as consistent characters in Barack Obama's stump speech. He employs their stories in railing against corporations that use trade pacts to replace well-paid union workers with low-cost foreign ones. It is a ready applause line for the Illinois presidential hopeful, one that he has been reciting almost verbatim since he was a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2004, when appliance giant Maytag was in the process of shutting a refrigerator plant here, putting 1,600 people out of work. But the union that represented most of those Galesburg workers isn't impressed with Obama's advocacy. It has endorsed his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton. Its leaders say t...

Dissing God

Image
(while I do NOT personally agree with Ms. Kilkenny's there-is-no-God stance - she makes some very interesting points about Obama's campaign and rhetoric here) By Allison Kilkenny Outside his audacity of hope, it could be Barack Obama's audacious scrutiny of religion that becomes his undoing. Did I mention it's 2008? And yet we're still talking about God. Despite being so advanced and clever in all aspects of our existence, human beings are still talking about a bearded dude, who supposedly walked on water, and could cure people with one touch, but couldn't navigate his way off a cross. Perhaps recognizing the benefits of leading a population fearful of an invisible daddy figure in the clouds, moderate politicians have always approached the issue of religion cautiously. After all, terrified people are easily led and fed all kinds of crazy bullshit. Why educate them and screw it all up? But when politicians do dare to break past the restrains of religion, they bec...

Black Guy Asks Nation for Change

Image
According to witnesses, a loud black man approached a crowd of some 4,000 strangers in downtown Chicago Tuesday and made repeated demands for change. "The time for change is now," said the black guy, yelling at everyone within earshot for 20 straight minutes, practically begging America for change. "The need for change is stronger and more urgent than ever before. And only you—the people standing here today, and indeed all the people of this great nation—only you can deliver this change." It is estimated that, to date, the black man has asked every single person in the United States for change. "I've already seen this guy four times today," Chicago-area ad salesman Blake Gordon said. "Every time, it's the same exact spiel. 'I need change.' 'I want change.' Why's he so eager for all this change? What's he going to do with it, anyway?" After his initial requests for change, the black man rambled nonstop on a variety ...

Dear Senator Obama,

Image
A brilliant piece by Jane Devin! Her great blog is here. Today I almost lost my lunch seeing the MSM spin Obama's recent "race" speech to his advantage and comparing his latest damage control to the Gettysburg Address. Be afraid, campers. VERY AFRAID. Dear Senator Obama: Do not give me hope, with all of its temporary glory and flowery promises. Give me action, swift and sustainable, that I, and millions like me, can rely on tomorrow. Hope does not feed the hungry family. Hope does not provide a higher education for those in the lower classes. Hope does not lessen the burden on the backs of the middle class. Do not give me hope where bread is needed. Do not speak to me of wings, but of steady, well-grounded roots. Show me the depth, the width, the breadth of the knowledge behind your impassioned rhetoric. Show me how it is that you will stave off the worst of the recession we are now in, ease this country’s $9 trillion dollar debt, repair our infrastructure, get us out o...

Religious rhetoric isn’t bad; hypocrisy is I've been told I am a fairly tolerant person - in fact, sometimes too tolerant. Aside from not suffering fools gladly there is one sort of person I can't abide. The liar and hypocrite. When your words and your actions don't jive, when you say one thing and do another - you lie not only to the very people whose support you need - you lie to Hashem. You can't fool Hashem - he sees everything - and so does a good mirror. By Andrew Hammond President Bush’s inaugural speech was like all of his other presidential speeches: It was filled with religious rhetoric. Bush’s speechwriter, Michael Gerson, has unabashedly admitted to intentionally employing that tradition in presidential addresses. Many liberals believe that this practice is disrespectful to those Americans who are not part of a particular religious affiliation. They believe that it is one more example that Bush is pandering to the religious right, that he is making a dis...
