The Unpresidential President

Image
Barack Obama has managed a rare feat: The longer he holds office, the more he diminishes in stature. BY James W. Ceaser From charisma to populism—this is the slippery slope down which Barack Obama has been sliding over the past two years. In June 2008, Obama the candidate described his nomination as “the moment when .  .  . our planet began to heal.” In June 2010, Obama the president promised his partisans he would find an “ass to kick.” With the peculiar magic of his presidential campaign now a faded memory, Obama is shoring up support by the cruder method of divisive appeals. Long before the current (already hugely extended) campaign season began, Obama made it a practice to target opposition symbols (“the insurance industry,” “speculators,” “a bunch of fat cat bankers on Wall Street,” the oil companies), call out and assail individual opponents (Rush Limbaugh, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner), and refer disparagingly to the Tea Party movement and Republicans in general (“this cr...

Did Obama Send a Cardboard Cut-Out to the U.N.?

Image
In the wake of Bibi's strong speech - it's impossible not to compare O-lame-A's speech and weak rhetoric to it. And yet this guy's POTUS! We went from a sociopathic moron to this inexperienced narcissist. Let us pray. Well, if this isn’t an analogy for an empty-suit presidency, nothing will suffice. It’s too good to be true and so almost certainly isn’t, but as this rapid-fire look at 130 photographs from the UN this week shows, it’s hard not to draw the conclusion that the POTUS has a COTUS. Watch the frozen image of Barack Obama’s face on your first pass, and then check the position of his hands on your second pass: Barack Obama's amazingly consistent smile from Eric Spiegelman on Vimeo . The grin is almost Chesire Cat-like, staying in a fixed position in every shot while the angle of the camera moves. The hands stay in exact position in relation to the body. The angle of the head doesn’t change over 130 frames, either. Either that’s a cardboard cutout, or like...

Obama's "Not To Do" List

Image
by Holman W. Jenkins, Jr. The global economic crisis is exposing the president's preoccupations as the soppy indulgences they always were. 'Put away childish things', President Obama said during his inauguration. He couldn't have found a theme more suited to the moment. The preoccupations that he and most politicians are used to running on, and that still characterize too many of his administration's utterances, are being exposed in the global economic disaster as the soppy indulgences they always were. Put away the global warming panic. Mankind's contribution to rising CO2 levels raises serious questions, but the tens of billions poured into climate science have, by now, added up only to a negative finding. We don't really have the slightest idea how an increase in the atmosphere's component of CO2 is impacting our climate, though the most plausible indication is that the impact is too small to untangle from natural variability. In any case, has Mr. Oba...

Caroline Kennedy -- More Unqualified than Obama

Image
from the always GREAT Uppity Woman : I thought we might recap exactly what Caroline Kennedy [Schlossberg] was doing before she decided “not to campaign” for the NY State Senate seat left empty by the work horse and policy wonk known as Hillary Clinton. Rather, let’s recap what she wasn’t doing — as opposed to what others are saying she was doing. Village Voice basically calls bullshit on her resume, particularly with respect to her tenure as “Chief Executive of the Office of Strategic Partnerships” in the New York City Department of Education . The truth is, Caroline didn’t do what her political pushers are saying she did. That’s not to say that none of it got done. It did. It’s just that Caroline didn’t do much of it. But she has no problem taking the credit for big-time fundraising for the NY City Department of Education. In fact, Caroline is not only assuming credit for the work of a woman named Michele Cahill, but she barely had the time to be around much after her appointmen...

Former Hillary Clinton Advisor and Organizer Hold Conference Call to Endorse John McCain

Image
From No Quarter: Today, McCain-Palin 2008 released a partial transcript of a conference call held this afternoon with Miguel D. Lausell, Senior Political Advisor to Hillary Clinton, and Clinton Delegate-at- Large Luchy Secaira (Florida). Both Lausell and Secaira endorsed John McCain for president. Here are excerpts from the conference call: Luchy Secaira: “I was a very strong Hillary Clinton supporter because she had a set of principles, characteristics, and her stand on the issues along with a track record of fighting on behalf of families. That was very attractive to me. “Well, we now know that the primaries are over. However, those qualities are not transferable. I do not believe that Senator Obama shares in those qualities. Therefore, my support and my vote is also non-transferable. “I am supporting John McCain and Governor Palin because John McCain has spent his whole life standing up for his country. He has a record of fairness, compassion, responsibility, and giving back. “Gover...

One Ring... To Rule Them All

Image
This is SOOOOO SICK!!! Sociopaths use someone's personal pain as their "in" to their lives for whatever their sick reason may be: money, sex, etc.... and when they are done with you... Well, just wait till Obamalamadingdong is done with you all. from No Quarter: Obama’s Con Job Destined to Break a Lot of Hearts Gotta love that marketing! Voting for President is more than just a civic responsibility. It’s cool, too! First, behold The ChangeRing. Then, behold why it is a problem: …A wearable symbol of “change” that is becoming a cult hit in Obamaland. Originally designed to be a wearable key-chain … young Obamaphiles have also taken to hanging it from a necklace or strapping it on their wrist. Driving its movement around the country is that it is sold as “buy one/give one” and people are passing it to their friends and family members. Another thing that makes The ChangeRing so compelling is the multi-layered story that has been woven into the product: the ring and it...

Pay Attention to the Differences

Image
Come on! We had to wait until NObama the clown was the Democratic presumptive nominee to see the differences between he & Hillary? The ObamaPalooza Tour of the Middle East & Europe is going on now and seems to be photo ops and sound bytes for the obviously CLUELESS Obamessiah. Am I the only one who sees this? Are we ready to put this empty suit/ talking head in the White House!? No readers, I'm not fixated -- I'm FRIGHTENED! CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE VIDEO CLIP IF YOU'RE ON AN AGGREGATOR So Barack Obama is finally making his highly touted trip abroad. What does he do when he is on his way to Afghanistan, the country about which he could not be bothered to actually hold a meeting as Chair of the Senate’s Subcommittee on European Affairs (and NATO)? He plays basketball. Hoops. Roundball. We are currently fighting a war in Afghanistan, and he spends part of his less than two whole days there playing a game. Wow. Have we not had enough of almost eight years of an adole...

Is Obama's MSM Honeymoon Really Over?

Image
Gosh I hope this is true! Now if the press would just stop giving the disingenuous McLame a free pass! Obama's honeymoon over, and it shows by Michael Goodwin It seems like ancient history now, but not long ago Hillary Clinton argued that Barack Obama was getting a free pass from the media. Those days are over, with moderators, a private citizen and Clinton herself peppering Obama on Wednesday night with a barrage of the kind of tough questions he escaped for more than a year. He answered some better than others, and some not at all. But the mere fact that at least five damaging issues were thrown at him within 30 minutes was testament to how much the race has changed in the six weeks since anti-American remarks by Obama's pastor, the Rev. Jeramiah Wright, became public. That was the high-water mark of Obama's campaign, and now the cracks are showing. My bet is that his ineffective answers on Wednesday night will mean more doubts among voters and more concern among Democra...
