by Dr. Babu Suseelan All of us know daily occurrences of Jihadi terrorism, Islamic homicide bombing, beheading of innocent kafirs, and organized, repetitive, regular and predictable slaughter of Muslims by Shias and Sunnis in the name of Allah. In recent months we have seen Islamic bloodshed, mass murder, beheading, and homicide bombing in all countries with substantial number of Muslims. We have seen Muslims on a murder march shouting Allah Akbar in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Georgia, India, Philippians, Sudan and Chechnya. These are not a phenomena defined by the news media. Our judgments of reality based on daily occurrences tell us more about Islamic terrorism. Indeed, we take these destructive events for granted. Israel Intervenes to Capture PA Killer by Maayana Miskin Israeli forces entered territory policed by the Palestinian Authority this week in order to arrest a PA man accused of murdering his wife, an Israeli citizen. Israeli forces usually enter areas policed by the PA only to conduct counterterrorism operations, and leave fighting crime to the PA. The detainee, whose name has not been released, lived with his wife Nadra Samara Badran in the PA-controlled city of Shechem until two months ago, when Nadra fled from her husband to her hometown, the Israeli Arab city of Tira. Nadra, 29 years old and a mother to four, filed a complaint against her husband with Israeli police, accusing him of violently attacking her. Since the husband is not an Israeli citizen, police transferred the complaint to PA Police and asked them to restrain the husband. It stands to consider that David, like many other victims of Nazi degradation, was stripped of his sexual identity, head shaved, dressed in shapeless clothing, then dehumanized with verbal, physical and sexual abuse. THE AGUNAH AND A SUMMARY OF POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS Rabbi Dr. Yitzchak Breitowitz The problem of the agunah -- the "chained" or "anchored" wife -- is a serious one, though it is not as prevalent as many Jewish feminists maintain. The term "agunah" appears in the Talmud primarily in connection with a husband who disappeared or was missing in action. While such agunot (plural of agunah) certainly exist in this day and age as well (consider the Holocaust or the Israeli soldiers who are MIA's), the primary use of the term today refers to a woman who cannot obtain a religious divorce (a "get") even after her marriage has been civilly terminated and hence is prohibited from marrying others. Husbands sometimes withhold such a divorce out of malice or spite or an attempt to extort money or concessions in the areas of child support, custody, visitation, or marital property.
