Texas lawmaker targets sexy cheerleadersAUSTIN, Texas, March 23 (UPI) -- Texas State Rep. Al Edwards, D-Houston, wants his state's schools to lose state funding if cheerleaders or dance teams make sexy moves.

"I've seen these sexually provocative type dances going on a number of times, and it's just not necessary," Edwards told the San Antonio Express News.

Under Edwards' bill, a school could lose state funding if it allows an inappropriate performance, even if that activity occurs off-campus. The commissioner of education would determine the amount of money lost.

Coaches and cheerleaders said the legislation is unnecessary.

"We're hired as professionals to do our job, and part of that job is making sure routines are appropriate, said Dianne Marks, a Taft High School teacher who coaches the San Antonio school's dance team. "Lawmakers should trust principals who, in turn, trust us to do our jobs with integrity, said said."

First let me say I don't like being fat. Yes, I diet and yes, to the degree my disability (unrelated to my weight) allows me - I do exercise. A while back someone posted really malicious things about my weight, my character and even my disability online.
