How to Spot a "Psycho"

I know far too many people who fit this profile. FAR TOO MANY. I even dated one off and on for 3 years... though today, I don't for the life of me understand why - except that I was trauma-bonded to him, my mother adored him and his mother adored me. Every time I tried to get out he'd scare the crap out of me (including almost killing me at least once and convincing me it was my fault I was in the hospital with a broken jaw) ... I guess those are actually fairly valid reasons but -- all based on FEAR.

This article from the BBC asks a few key questions - if you answer yes, perhaps you should dig further. And don't ignore 'red flags' - even if its your friend, spouse, coworker or neighbor you've known for years.

Psychopaths don't always kill you, sometimes they just shred your soul and destroy your trust while leaving your life in pieces, and telling you to just MOVE ON while offering no apology.

And you cannot tell by looking. - Barbara

Psychopaths aren't always as easy to spot as a Norman Bates or a Hannibal Lecter. So to help you along, we've compiled a guide revealing the telltale signs of a psycho. Remember, there could be one sitting next to you ...

1 Does he break promises?

2 Does he take credit for the work of others?

3 Is he erratic and unreliable?

4 Would he disregard a code of ethics?

5 Does he manipulate others to his advantage?

6 Is he a bully?

7 Would he tell you to just 'pull yourself together' if a family member died?

8 Does he set unreasonable deadlines?

9 Is he remorseless when set on a goal?

10 Does he fly into a rage over a small problem?

11 Does he fake sincerity with great conviction?

12 Does he think the world revolves around him?

13 Is he two-faced?

14 Is he lacking in any kind of personal depth?

15 Does he blame you or others when things go wrong?

16 Is he unfocused and a poor organiser? (ADHD is connected to psychopathy in adults)

I dated a psycho for 2 years. At first he had me convinced that I couldn't do any better, that everything wrong with the relationship was my fault. Then he would threaten me and my family if I left. Finally, I did leave. He ended up taking my cat and putting her to sleep. He is a psycho!

BTW, thanks for stopping by!
