Justice in Purgatory
I can't imagine the agony this is causing the family & friends of Dr. Faughey; whom I was priviledged to be a patient of for 15 years. Not being able to see justice brought against her killer is hard. Dr. Faughey, however, I know would have shown more compassion that I can muster.
Not a day has gone by since this past February when her life was snatched away from her by this psycho, that I haven't thought about her and been grateful that she was part of my life and my support system for so long. I still haven't been able to write a decent note to her husband or anyone else about this; and for that I apologize. I really have not been the same since the funeral, though I have carried on with my life in the way she encouraged me to.
Dr. Faughey saved my life at least twice. She helped me steer through some of the worst times of my life and never once did she judge, scold or minimize. She validated, agreed and "got" me. She supported, bolstered my self esteem and encouraged me to write more and do more with this very blog, including finding my 'voice' again and being fearless about my opinions.
To all of us who were lucky enough to know her either personally or professionally, I will continue to pray for us to be consoled and healed.
CLEAVER-SLAY FIEND 'UNFIT'

Admitted cleaver killer David Tarloff has been hallucinating, staring into space and defecating on himself, and is thus unfit for trial in the murder of an Upper East Side psychotherapist, according to two court-appointed shrinks.
Manhattan prosecutors said yesterday they will decide by next week whether to fight the finding. If they don't, Tarloff would be held in a secure mental institution unless his condition improves.
Tarloff, 40, was an out-of work telemarketer from Queens when he admitted barging into the office of Dr. Kathryn Faughey and hacking her with a knife and a meat cleaver. She died saving her colleague Dr. Kent Shinbach, one of Tarloff's former shrinks.
